The Co-op Group stands apart in the UK as a business: you see we're not owned by a small group of shareholders but by more than 8 million members. With businesses in food, insurance, funerals, legal and electrical services we have an annual turnover exceeding £11bn, employ 70,000 people, and operate over 3700 retail outlets.
However, these numbers don't tell the full story. It's in our DNA to drive commercial growth responsibly for the benefit of our customers, members and the communities where we trade. As a business we are transforming and you have a fantastic opportunity to join a forward thinking procurement team that is transforming along with the wider Group. With such a diverse family of businesses, there's no better place to grow your Procurement career and gain exposure to a variety of industry sectors, all in one place.
You will be fully in charge of developing & implementing procurement strategies which make a commercial difference and impact the future of the Group. As a Category Manager you will be able to lead strategies from start to finish in a large, complex organisation like ours - providing your business partners with knowledge of the category and your understanding of the supply markets. You will be developing the supplier relationships of the future and bring in innovation on an ongoing basis. You must be able to develop and work with complex sourcing strategies and contractual agreements, have excellent negotiation skills and strong business acumen. You'll be passionate about generating value and improving our supply chain in an ethical manner.
We're looking to speak with candidates who have extensive procurement experience in a range of industries and sectors, not necessarily the ones mentioned above.
Our unique difference is the impact you will have on not only our business, but our communities too- with every procurement project we complete, we put the money we've saved directly back into our communities. Not our shareholders, or board members. That's just one of the many ways that The Co-operative Group does business, better. So if you're an ambitious Category Manager who's as driven and passionate about value as we are, join us and do the right thing.
